Wednesday 26 Jan – Apple software: iPhoto and Aperture

Me and my Mac
Suffolk Mac User Group member, Colin Brown, kicks off the evening with a lightning tour of his Mac and the apps he uses. Colin’s passion is sound, and he uses his mac to create musical snippets, DJing on a radio show and playing music.
There’s a choice of speakers for the evenings main event.....
Phil Brew takes a look at iPhoto, and examines the wide range of features this amazing (free!) software offers. Phil’s presentation will be based on both the new version of iPhoto (iPhoto 11, part of iLife 11) and on the preceding iPhoto 9, and will take a detailed look at how iPhoto is evolving, as well as demonstrating all the basic facilities including image library management (importing, labelling, storage, retrieval) and the ever-increasing range of photo-manipulation tools and publication modalities available. Phil is a busy and respected amateur photographer, based in Colchester, and will be holding his first solo exhibition later this year.
Paul Cudmore
( explores Apple’s sophisticated image-management software, Aperture, and discusses professional workflow and image manipulation techniques available in this feature-rich programme. Paul was awarded Photographer of the Year in the London and Home Counties region by the British Institute of Professional Photographers in 2007 and runs a busy studio in the heart of Colchester.
Free iLife ’11 raffle
Once again we have a free raffle for members who turn up in time for the start of the meeting - with a copy of Apple’s new iLife up for grabs.

March 30  AGM  + Table-top sale, raffle and app speed-dating

Guinness Book of Records nominee for the shortest AGMs in history? Should be! The Suffolk Mac User Group end-of-year formal stuff will be over in moments and will be followed by plenty of Mac goodness......
1. Free raffle for all members who both attend the meeting AND renew (or have already paid) their membership for the 2011/12 season. First prize is a brand new iPod Touch worth £193!
2. Table Top Sale. We invite members to rifle through their drawers (privately please!) and bring along anything they would like to sell - so long as it’s Apple-oriented. An excellent opportunity to grab a bargain!
